The Olympus SP-600UZ is a 12 Megapixels megazoom digital camera with an impressive wide optical zoom covering a 28-840mm focal length. Time for our team to test how the Olympus SP-600 UZ performs in the field. There are more digital megazoom cameras from the competition and the differences between camera specifications become smaller and smaller by the generation. — Ilse Jurriën

[REVIEW:] Olympus E-PL1 Review – Richard Butler (dpreview)

As one half of the Micro Four Thirds consortium, Olympus was one of the originators of the mirrorless interchangeable lens or system camera. In a little under two years, this new breed has established itself as a credible alternative both to compact cameras and DSLRs. However, while manufacturers regularly talk to us about watching and wanting to exploit the gap between these two established types of cameras, all the models released so far have tended towards the DSLR-end of that space. So far we’ve seen models from both Panasonic and Samsung that have aped the functionality, handling and even appearance of entry-level DLSRs, while the small, rangefinder-styled MILCs (The E-P1 and GF1) have still behaved like DSLRs without mirrors, rather than compact cameras with large sensors. — Richard Butler

[REVIEW:] Olympus E-PL1 Review – Eric Reagan (Photography Bay)

Posted on Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Cameras, Reviews

The Olympus E-PL1 is the latest in the line of PEN cameras, which prior models include the original E-P1 and the E-P2. The E-PL1 is the first PEN camera targeted at and priced toward the consumer market. As with the other PEN models, the E-PL1 is a Micro Four Thirds format camera and features a 2x crop factor over traditional 35mm sensors. That means that the 14-42mm lens feels like a 28-84mm lens on a full frame camera. — Eric Reagan

Olympus doesn’t put out very many cameras that I’ve come across–not near so many as Kodak and Nikon and the like, anyway–but when they do, they’ve usually done a pretty nice job. And today’s review target, the Olympus Stylus 7030, will prove to be exactly that: a pretty nice job. — Image Acquire

[REVIEW:] Olympus Underwater Digital Camera Review – Benz (Afforfable Digital Camera)

Posted on Thursday, May 6, 2010 in Cameras, Reviews

Underwater photography has been greatly impacted and improved because of the digital revolution. Being able to see and edit your shots before you leave the water is an incredible advantage. Back in the stone age of film cameras you had to wait until your trip was over and your film was processed before you even knew you had made a mistake that could have cost you some or all of your photos. It is not difficult to see that digital imaging has greatly improved underwater photography, and all photography for that matter. Another blessing of underwater digital cameras is that while technology is constantly improving, prices are constantly dropping. — Benz

[REVIEW:] Olympus 9-18mm f/4-5.6 ED M.Zuiko Digital (Tested) – Andrew Alexander (SLR Gear)

Posted on Monday, May 3, 2010 in Lenses, Reviews

This is the second M.Zuiko series lens we have tested, the first being Olympus’ diminutive 17mm prime. The M.Zuiko lens series is designed specifically for Olympus’ PEN series of digital interchangeable lens bodies.

The 9-18mm ƒ/4-5.6 lens uses some revolutionary components, including a new lens element called a ”Dual-sided Super Aspherical” lens. The lens element has a remarkable shape and must require some pretty amazing moulds to make. In addition, the lens is designed with video in mind, using a new silent autofocus motor. — Andrew Alexander
