It just makes it easier for people to deal with you, and in some cases, take you a little more seriously. For example, I may run into someone who isn’t actually a model, but could make a good photo. If I walk up and say I’d like to take your picture, I’m just another creep they want to avoid. If I introduce myself as a photographer and have some business cars with samples of my work and contact information, then the conversation seems to have a little bit more credibility. — William Beem

To be honest, when Micro Four Thirds format was announced, I couldn’t really see the point. Sure, the cameras were slightly smaller but not by much. If you look at older Micro Four Thirds cameras like the Panasonic G1 and GH1, they’re smaller than something like a Canon Rebel but not by a serious amount. You still can’t fit them comfortably inside a jacket pocket and you’re missing some comforts we are used to on a traditional DSLR, not to mention the fact that introducing a whole new camera system means people have to purchase a whole new set of lenses. However, the most recent batch of m-4/3rds bodies have been sleeker, more attractive and more fully featured in comparison, showing that the format is evolving into something that is if not a competitor to the old guards of Canon and Nikon, then definitely a niche alternative with a legitimate market share. — Ed Lau

Though recently, it seems Samsung has been building more photographic equipment, and been doing a great job of it too. The latest compact digital camera from Samsung to reach the market is the EX1. With its compact metal body, an impressive F1.8-2.4 optical zoom lens capable of 24mm at the wide-angle and an articulated screen, it looks like Samsung is serious about their cameras. — Thinkcomputer

Serious enthusiasts know that the higher resolution sensors on the new cameras are not really worth it. Cramming 14 million pixels on the same 1/2.5 inch sensor is not going to improve picture quality. Worse, it brings annoying noise issues. My cousin was kind enough to lend me his Canon S90 for review. Re launching the long abandoned S series, Canon has given point and shoot photography a big leap (and other companies a run for their money) with this tiny shooter. — Aziz
