[REVIEW:] Review: The Düsseldorf School of Photography by Stefan Gronert – Joerg Colberg (Conscientious)
To a large extent, contemporary photography looks the way it does because of two major revolutions. The first, originating in the US in the 1970s, not only made colour photography the dominant image mode, but also opened up new ways of seeing. The second, originating in Düsseldorf, Germany, very forcefully also made us see things in new ways. Thankfully, there are now two new books that talk about these two revolutions. — Joerg Colberg

[REVIEW:] Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 Digital Camera Review – Steve Morgenstern (DigitalCameraInfo)
The FZ35 scored poorly in our color accuracy tests, undoubtedly due in large part to the limited color mode selection provided. Most cameras offer a few color modes to fit different needs and situations, often including standard, portrait, landscape, and vivid options. The FZ35 has only one standard color mode. There ares a few Color Effects (B&W, Sepia, Cool and Warm), but these are highly exaggerated settings not intended for day to day shooting. — Steve Morgenstern

[REVIEW:] DroboPro – Rod Harlan (Layers Magazine)
Viewed 25 times
The DroboPro (big brother to the popular Drobo storage system) has eight drive bays that can hold 3.5″ SATA drives. Currently, 2 TB is the limit of a single drive (although 3TB is right around the corner), so a DroboPro can hold 16 TB total. Data Robotics uses a proprietary storage technology called BeyondRAID that allows you to mix-and-match storage capacities of different sizes and easily expand your overall storage size in the future. — Rod Harlan

[REVIEW:] A Practical Review: Canon TS-E 17mm f/4 – Jim M. Goldstein
I’ve been itching to test out the Canon 17mm f/4 tilt-shift lens for a long time and thanks to BorrowLenses as a courtesy this lens was made available to me for testing. I am far from being a camera gear tech-head, so if you want to get MTF chart info and other technical minutia I have provided links below to other reviews of this lens that I think are great & include greater tech info. — Jim M. [REVIEW:] Impact EX100A Monolight Kit Review – Eric (Photography Bay)
The Impact EX100A is a basic 100 watt monolight that’s available from B&H Photo. The EX100A is also available in a 2 monolight kit with 24″ softboxes, an umbrella, light stands and a carry case.
The EX100A 2-light kit was my first experience with using monolights, and for the $200 I spent on it, I have been pretty pleased. Sure, it’s not AlienBees, Elinchrom or anything fancy, but not everyone needs (or can afford) those brands. — Eric
