On Thursday, Sony announced three new SLR digital cameras in its ALPHA line, which aim to take the high-end SLR and bring it down to a more consumer-friendly price point.

Two of the new models – the $749.99 Sony ALPHA DSLR-A500 and the $949.99 Sony ALPHA DSLR-A550 – will look identical, use the same body and image sensor and only vary in megapixels, speed, LCD resolution and price; the prices of both cameras include just the camera body itself.
