The Canon PowerShot SX200 is a more compact and premium version of the SX100-line of cameras that Canon started two years ago. Featuring a 12X optical zoom lens, 12 megapixels of resolution, a 3 inch LCD and full manual controls, the Canon SX200 sets out to compete with the likes of other ‘compact’ super-zoom cameras such as the Panasonic ZS3/TZ7. -Brad Soo

[REVIEW:] Lightroom Books – heninger fotographik
Nathaniel Coalson recently contacted me and asked if I’d review his Lightroom 2 book, entitled Adobe Photoshop LIghtroom 2: Streamlining your Digital Photography Process. I agreed, and it arrived a few days later in the mail.
Then I took my sweet time to review it. Between this crazy summer’s escapades and a nasty spider bite, I’ve been a busy, distracted man this summer. -heninger

[REVIEW:] Hands On with Sony's New ALPHA SLR Cameras – PJ Jacobowitz (PC Mag)
On Thursday, Sony announced three new SLR digital cameras in its ALPHA line, which aim to take the high-end SLR and bring it down to a more consumer-friendly price point.
Two of the new models – the $749.99 Sony ALPHA DSLR-A500 and the $949.99 Sony ALPHA DSLR-A550 – will look identical, use the same body and image sensor and only vary in megapixels, speed, LCD resolution and price; the prices of both cameras include just the camera body itself. Both will use APS-C size CMOS sensors. -PJ Jacobowitz

[REVIEW:] Sony Alpha DSLR-A850 – Dave Etchells, Shawn Barnett, and Zig Weidelich (imaging resource)
Sony tells us that the body, sensor, and electronics are identical to those of the A900, and our tests of the Sony A850 bear that out: Image quality is essentially identical to that of the A900, and other performance characteristics apart from the continuous-mode speed and viewfinder coverage appear identical as well. If you’ve been hungering for an A900 but couldn’t quite justify the cost, the Sony A850 is the camera you’ve been waiting for. And if you’ve been wanting to get into full-frame digital photography but couldn’t previously afford it, this might finally be your opportunity. -Dave Etchells, Shawn Barnett, and Zig Weidelich

[REVIEW:] Lensbaby Composer Mini Review – Juan Pons (Wild Nature Photography)
As soon as I received the Lensbaby composer this past friday, I put it on my Canon 5D MarkII and decided to use it exclusively for the entire weekend. No matter how entrenched my thought processes are and how safe I may feel inside my photographic comfort zone, I am always interested in trying new things, experimenting and challenging myself to see things differently. I figured that the best way for me to really get to know this new tool was to immerse myself in it. -Juan Pons
