REVIEW: Quick Update on the NexStar Hard Drive Dock Review – Joe Decker (photocrati)
Viewed 9 times, 1 so far today
During my initial review of the NexStar Hard Drive Dock I said (and it’s true) that I tested the dock using Windows XP (32-bit) and Vista (64-bit). That’s absolutely the case, but as I’ve used the device I discovered a problem on the Vista system I hadn’t seen in previous testing, I had trouble formatting the drive on the 64-bit system. In my previous testing I’d formatted the drive on the XP system, so this was a case I hadn’t exercised. -Joe Decker

REVIEW: Canon PowerShot SX1 IS – PJ Jacobowitz (PCMag)
Viewed 14 times, 1 so far today
It would be tough to find a superzoom camera with more features than Canon’s 10-megapixel PowerShot SX1 IS ($599.99 list), which offers terrific image quality, a powerful 20X optical zoom, and the ability to capture (and easily export) full HD video. The user interface is fast and straightforward, and you also get some manual controls. Sony’s $499 Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 looks as if it will be a serious (and more affordable) contender in this category, but the SX1 is an excellent choice for those looking for an easy-to-use superzoom camera. -PJ Jacobowitz

REVIEW: Fujifilm FinePix Z33 WP – Brad Soo (DP Interface)

The FinePix Z33 is an affordable, waterproof digital camera with a fun design. The camera features 10 megapixels of resolution, a 3X zoom lens, 2.7 inch LCD and SD/SDHC support (versus the proprietary xD-Picture cards on past Fujifilm cameras).
With stiff competition from its waterproof-only peers as well as rugged digital cameras, how well does the FinePix Z33 hold up in today’s market? Let’s discover now. -Brad Soo

REVIEW: Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ7 digital camera – Elias Plastiras (PC World)
Viewed 9 times, 2 so far today
The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ7 digital camera is a pocket powerhouse for the frequent traveller who wants to shoot high quality still images as well as above average videos. If it wasn’t for a couple of design quirks, it would be a five star camera.
The TZ in the camera’s name stands for travel zoom, and you’d never know by just looking at it that it has a massive 12x zoom lens made by Leica. It can capture photos at a wide angle of 25mm, or it can get you nice and close to your subject at its maximum zoom of 300mm (35mm equivalent). The lens barrel is concealed within the camera body and it sticks out only when you switch it on. At the maximum zoom, it still sticks out only 3cm. The camera body itself is approximately 10cm wide, 2.8cm thick and 6cm high. It doesn’t have a viewfinder, but it does have a 3in LCD screen that you can use to frame and playback your shots. -Elias Plastiras

REVIEW: Fujifilm Finepix Z30 – Chris Jager (PC World)
Viewed 12 times, 1 so far today
The Fujifilm Finepix Z30 is an entry-level compact camera equipped with a 3x optical zoom lens and 10-megapixel CCD sensor. Its primary selling point is probably its affordable price tag – which is unfortunate, as there are plenty of cheaper, better options on the market. It is trumped in most areas by the Pentax Optio Z10 (RRP: $249): a rival compact camera with a 7x optical zoom lens. In fact, even the budget-level Samsung ES15 manages to give it a run for its money, despite costing half the price. -Chris Jager

Hartblei Superrotator Macro 120mm F4 TS review – Andy Westlake (dpreview)
Viewed 17 times, 2 so far today
Hartblei is a not a manufacturer well-known to the average photographer – the company occupies a small and specialised niche in the high-end lens market, making perspective control (tilt and shift) lenses using its unique ‘Superrotator’ barrel design. The optics are adapted from lenses which were originally designed for 6×6cm medium format cameras, and Hartblei exploits the resultant large image circle (85mm in diameter, essentially twice that required by the 35mm full-frame format) to provide a range of movements. -Andy Westlake

REVIEW: PocketWizard AC7 shield tackles RF noise problem with certain Canon Speedlites
Viewed 5 times, 1 so far today
LPA Design’s upcoming PocketWizard AC7, a shield designed to squelch range-limiting RF noise emitted by certain Canon Speedlites, is nearing completion. In our testing of an early prototype with a Speedlite 580EX, MiniTT1-to-FlexTT5 wireless radio triggering range was almost four times longer than the same setup without the AC7 in place (and LPA Design indicates that shipping units will provide even greater RF noise suppression – and therefore longer range – than the one supplied to us). -Rob Galbraith

Canon’s latest entry-level dSLR, the Digital Rebel T1i (aka EOS 500D) directly replaces the popular Rebel XSi from 2008. This updated model shares many of its features with the advanced amateur Canon EOS 50D, including the same 15-megapixel CMOS image sensor, EOS Integrated Cleaning System, DIGIC 4 processing system, Live View, 3.0-inch LCD (920K dots), etc. The T1i has also adopted the same Full HD (1080p) video function found on the EOS 5D Mark II. -Steve’s DigiCams
